Development Geologist (Riverton, Wyoming)

Lead Geologist for a proposed open-pit uranium mine and heap leach mill in Wyoming.  General duties included generation of mineral resource estimates, drill site management, land records management, organization of historical and compliant databases, review of potential acquisitions, and technical report and permit writing.  Specific duties are listed below.

  • Drilling Management, Exploration and Development:  Utilized mud rotary and reverse-circulation drilling operations for minerals exploration and ground water well installations.  Oversaw and organized drilling activities at the proposed mine sites while managing a staff of 2-4 geologists.
  • Field Exploration and Sampling:  Drill cuttings and core retrieval for analysis of mineral content and baseline characterization of overburden materials.  Operation of company-owned Century geophysical logging truck and tools.  Air, groundwater, and meteorological sampling for mine and mill site baseline requirements. 
  • Geologic Interpretations:  Completed technical reports, cross-sections, and drill hole maps.  Interpreted grade-thickness of historical and modern geophysical gamma logs.  Recommended areas for additional exploration drilling. 
  • Mineral Resource Estimations:  Calculated mineral resources of historical and compliant drilling. 
  • Land Management:  Land Department assistant manager of all lode mining claims and state and private leases.  Directed claim staking activities of all projects in Wyoming and New Mexico. 
  • Technical and Permit Writing:  Led or assisted in writing/documentation of permitting necessary for Drill Notices, Plan of Operations, Mine Permit, and Mill Permit applications to federal and state regulators.  Provided technical assistance to independent contractors on all 43-101 reports in New Mexico and Wyoming including compiling historical/compliant data, mineral resource estimates, etc.
  • Completed due diligence and assisted management on property acquisitions, sales, and joint-venture negotiations.
